2 parts in 1 volume. 8vo (200 x 142 mm). 2 title pages with woodcut printer\’s devices, 2 woodcut portraits of Boussuet in text of front matter of each part, folding plate of starfish, numerous woodcut illustrations. Modern calf antique, spine gilt in 6 compartments, morocco lettering piece. Second part bound before first part, with both title pages and front matter bound at front; library stamp on first title, top edge of title repaired, marginal dampstains at lower outside corners, some ink marginalia, scattered browning and spotting.
FIRST EDITION. Essentially a versification of Rondelet\’s Libri de piscibus, published the same year in a French edition by the same printers and re-using many of the woodcuts. Baudrier X, 257; Brunet I, 1184; Mortimer French 118; Nissen ZBI 511.
