1. Of the Advancement and Proficience of Learning…. Oxford: Leonard Lichfield for Robert Young and Edward Forrest, 1640. Folio (282 x 181 mm). Portrait frontispiece, engraved allegorical title page. 19th century half sheep and marbled boards, rebacked retaining original spine and covers. Rubbed, portrait frontispiece supplied from another source and re-margined to fit, ink ownership inscriptions, last leaf of front matter loose, large stain to N1, some marginalia, light browning and spotting. FIRST COMPLETE EDITION IN ENGLISH, second issue with colophon dated 1640. Enlarged and expanded from the 1605 Latin edition, with a memorial frontispiece portrait of Bacon. Gibson 141b; STC 1167.3.

Portrait frontispiece, engraved allegorical extra title page. 20th century quarter vellum and marbled boards. Portrait and engraved extra title laid down, ink ownership inscriptions, lacking final blank, spotting, light dampstaining. Fourth edition, with The New Atlantis appended at the back, with separate pagination. Gibson 174; Wing B327.
3. Novum organu scientiarum, editio secundo. Amsterdam: Joannis Ravestein, 1660. Woodcut title page. BOUND WITH: Opuscula varia posthuma, philosphica, civilia, et theologia. Amsterdam: Joannis Ravestein, 1663. Later vellum, inked titles on spine. Edges slightly trimmed, minor spotting. Gibson 106.
