Folio (285 x 185 mm). Title page in red and black with woodcut of astronomers, numerous woodcut diagrams of scientific instruments in text, lacking 9 plates at end. Modern blind-tooled calf. Title page re-margined at bottom, margins trimmed with slight losses to edges of some woodcuts, scattered browning, some scuffing to covers.

Apianus taught mathematics at the University of Ingolstadt, wrote a number of scientific treatises on a range of topics, and designed a variety of astronomical instruments. His instrument designs and the method for using them are presented in this meticulously illustrated production from his own printing house.
